Unlinking a Project from a Project Workflow
Project workflows are designed to streamline and accelerate the creation of new projects. This is especially valuable for companies that frequently manage standardized, repeatable projects.
But what if a specific project needs to deviate from the standard process? For example, it might require a different number of stages or milestones. The work structure of a project linked to a workflow cannot be modified, and building a new project from the ground up is inefficient.
The solution is to unlink the project from its project workflow.
Effects of Unlinking a Project from a Workflow
When you unlink a project from its workflow, the following changes take place:
- The work structure becomes editable within the unlinked project. These changes will not impact other projects created using the same workflow.
- Automations are removed from the unlinked project, as they are a component of the original workflow.
- The unlinked project will no longer be visible on the Project Workflow board.
- The original workflow can be edited, and those changes will not be applied to the unlinked project.
How to Unlink a Project from a Workflow
Important: This action can only be performed by Project module administrators, the project manager, or the assistant project manager.
Follow these steps to unlink your project:
- Navigate to the project that you created from a workflow. To confirm if a project is linked to a workflow, enter the project's edit modeāthe workflow's name will be displayed in the "Project Workflow" field.

- From the project's main page, click the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner and select the "Unlink from project workflow" option.

- A confirmation prompt will appear. Confirm the action to proceed.

That's it. The project's work structure is now fully editable.
