Private and Public Apps
Flowlu supports two types of custom apps: private and public. They differ in visibility, distribution, and moderation requirements.
Private Apps
Private apps are meant for internal use or for distribution to a limited number of Flowlu accounts.
Key characteristics:
- Private apps are not listed in the Flowlu Marketplace.
- They're installed directly into specific Flowlu accounts.
- Moderation isn't required.
- A private app supports a single active version.
Private apps are a good fit for:
- internal tools,
- customer-specific integrations,
- experimental or early-stage apps.
Public Apps
Public apps are listed in the Flowlu Marketplace and available to other Flowlu customers.
Key characteristics:
- Public apps must pass moderation before publication.
- Each new version requires moderation.
- Moderation covers:
- declared functionality,
- whether the app works as described,
- security considerations,
- requested permissions and scopes.
User reviews for public apps are governed by the Flowlu App Marketplace Review Policy.
Updates and Moderation
Not every change requires moderation.
These changes don't require re-moderation:
- the app's description text,
- support information,
- banners and promotional content,
- logos and visual assets.
These changes do require moderation:
- publishing a new app version,
- changes that affect functionality,
- changes to requested permissions or scopes.
Visibility and Access Control
For both private and public apps:
- portal administrators install and remove apps,
- administrators can grant app access to specific user roles or groups.
